OUR STORY · OUR ROOTS

Greek roots.
Comfort with substance.

Our point of view begins in Greece: an appreciation for natural texture, careful making and the pleasure of feeling at home.

THESSA brings that sensibility to the bed. Substantial materials. A feel fitted to your body. Premium comfort at an accessible price point.

WHY THESSA

Luxury you can feel.
Choices you can understand.

01

Know what you sleep on.

See the materials, layer depths and construction alongside the price. Understand what changes as you move through the collection.

02

Find your personal fit.

Compare support and cushioning around your body weight, shape and sleeping position. Choose the surface and finish that feel right to you.

03

Make luxury everyday.

Generous latex, wool upholstery and carefully chosen textiles make comfort tangible. Our idea of accessible luxury starts with what is inside.

THE ART OF MAKING A MATTRESS

Every layer has a job.

Building comfort is a matter of composition. The spring core provides support. Latex adds responsive cushioning. Wool upholstery softens the surface, and the woven cover gives the bed its first touch.

Thickness, layering and firmness change how those parts work together. The skill is in bringing them into balance, then matching the complete bed to the person who will sleep on it.

Explore the four constructions

A VERY HUMAN HISTORY

We have always made
a place to rest.

THE FIRST LAYERS

Comfort began with plants.

At Border Cave in South Africa, researchers identified grass bedding dating to around 200,000 years ago. Long before the modern mattress, people were arranging materials to make a place for sleeping and living. [1]

THE GREEK KLINĒ

A bed, and a place to gather.

The ancient Greek klinē was a couch or bed. A Hellenistic terracotta in The Met depicts one dressed with cloth and pillows for a banquet: a glimpse of comfort woven into domestic and social life. [2]

NATURAL MATERIALS, CONSIDERED

Feel the difference.
Understand the reason.

Material study of processed wool batting, folded to show its soft crimped fibres

Wool

Soft upholstery close to the surface. Wool cushions the first touch and can absorb and release moisture vapour.

Material study of a single latex foam panel with pinholes and a porous cut edge

Latex

Elastic cushioning that yields under your body and recovers as you move. Dunlop and Talalay bring different feels to the collection.

Material study of loose curled horsehair upholstery filling

Horsehair

A resilient upholstery layer in Horsehair Reserve. Curled horsetail adds a springy response beneath the latex.

Material study of processed cotton fibres beside softly folded cotton cloth

Cotton

A familiar woven surface with a natural, understated finish. Its texture shapes the first touch of the mattress.

A CHOICE OF SURFACE

What COOLMAX® does.

COOLMAX® uses engineered synthetic fibres to carry moisture across the fabric, where it can evaporate. Our optional COOLMAX® surface is a polyester blend, offered for its moisture management. Cotton remains a separate surface choice. [3]

Temperature, bedding and room conditions all contribute to comfort at night. Textile sleep studies examine particular combinations; they do not establish a sleep or longevity benefit for a THESSA mattress. [4]

NATURAL MATERIALS & MICROPLASTICS

The whole composition.
In plain sight.

We value natural fibres for their feel and the roles they play in a bed. We also name synthetics where they serve a purpose: polyester in the COOLMAX® blend, or the polyurethane waterproof barrier in a mattress protector.

Wearing and washing synthetic textiles can release plastic microfibres. Natural textiles shed fibres too, and a natural surface does not make a complete product plastic-free. The useful starting point is knowing the composition you are choosing. [5]

YOUR BED SHOULD FEEL LIKE YOURS

Come and find your fit.

Lie on your side. Turn onto your back. Compare how your shoulders, hips and lower back feel. Try pillow heights and surface finishes. A personal viewing gives you the space to find the combination you want to come home to.
